mHBOT
Available in our office and for sale for at-home use.
Our clinic offers m-HBOT (mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy) for overall health and wellness. The pressure created pushes excess oxygen in the plasma of the blood, which then can reach many places in the body that may need healing or general maintenance.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a valuable treatment that is reserved for very serious cases, and used in major hospitals and wound care centers for tissue healing. It is also an emergency medical treatment for life threatening conditions, like deep sea diving accidents.
Over the past few decades, HBOT has been widely promoted for many ‘off-label’ conditions, causing much controversy in the medical field, from both skeptics to proponents. In addition, there are many websites available to the public, some good and some not so good — some websites attack the use of hyperbaric therapy, and others make many false and unsubstantiated claims.
m-HBOT uses pressures below 1.5 ATA, typically around 1.3 ATA , to deliver hyperbaric therapy. The advantages of using these lower pressures is that they can still deliver very high oxygen levels into the body, but with an impeccable safety record. This application of HBOT has been around for a good 20 years and its growth in the hyperbaric community is growing in exponentially. Here are the following reasons:
Oxygen concentrators can be used with pressures below 1.5 ATA. The benefits of using oxygen concentrators is that (depending on the model) they can be used to deliver about 93% to 95% oxygen, without the risks of high pressure oxygen cylinders. This adds to the safety of the procedure, while reducing the unnecessary costs of buying oxygen
The extra oxygen delivered into the body is in the blood plasma. As previously discussed, the benefits of being transported in plasma is that the oxygen is not tightly bound to red blood cells. Now these molecules can easily and freely travel through the circulatory system, getting to areas where red blood cells may be restricted in flow. This is most likely the major factor that accounts for the many benefits that have been reported with hyperbaric delivery.
More and more clinics, doctors and health practitioners are combining their expert skills, alongside the higher oxygen levels generated through m-HBOT, and reporting excellent clinical outcomes.
The reported benefits from clinics, doctors, and other health practitioners keeps growing. and is gaining widespread acceptance
Research and Studies: One of the earlier concerns regarding the use of m-HBOT was the lack of scientific studies and research, due to many of the original studies citing higher oxygen dosages, for its beneficial effects. The research has now caught up, showing us that there is indeed strong evidence and data to support m-HBOT. This has furthered the fuel for widespread acceptance that is gaining in this country.
